Custom steel fabricator, Breakwater Metaland, is keenly investing in its people and systems under a comprehensive modernisation program designed to drive growth for the successful family-owned firm.
Our new GMC member offers specialised fabrication, cutting any lengths and size, a retail outlet for the DIY market, and mass produces smaller items including garden art and firewood stackers.
Newly appointed Chairman for Breakwater Metaland, Bill Winter, is bringing a wealth of transformational experience to upgrade processes and continue strengthening delivery for the company’s loyal customer base.
As part of the nationwide Metaland buying group, they’re able to provide competitive pricing through volume purchase on a large range of steel, building and associated products.
“Our 22 staff include 5 skilled trades and we are looking to bring on and train additional trades, and to continue investing in the people we have,” Bill said this week. “This is a profitable business with a huge range of services, and my aim is to set a solid foundation for the future.” Bill has deep experience in industry revitalisation, having worked for many years with Cadbury Schweppes and drove the turnaround of RACVs Smash Repairs division. He currently sits on the Board of multi-million dollar Victorian manufacturer, Luv-A-Duck.
“Geelong people may remember my father – he started and ran a soft drink company, Noddy’s Soft Drinks, which was how I began my career with Cadbury’s.”
In his spare time, Bill and colleague Mark Edmonds host “True Business Stories” podcast which has broadcast interviews with 70 local businesses.
