Strengthening Australia’s sovereign defence industry: Government facilitation a key piece of the puzzle
GMC CEO Jennifer Conley is featured in the latest issue of AMT magazine, talking about a critical role that government play in linking large defence prime contractors with innovative SMEs.
Jenn highlights that Hanwha’s Armoured Vehicle Centre of Excellence (H-ACE) can provide a platform to accelerate and sustain innovative local manufacturers far beyond initial defence contracts.
“The H-ACE facility has already provided significant opportunities for Australian companies to collaborate with Hanwha in the future development of next-generation defence systems, including robotics, advanced materials and electronics.”
Jenn also talks about why sovereign manufacturing capability is critical for Australia and that lack of scale in our businesses is a key industrial challenge.
This is being addressed by one group, ASDAM, which continues to expand
“Large enterprises can drive export growth and technology transfer for our SMEs. This increases Australia’s industrial complexity”.
