Inspiring launch for GMC school programs

March 19, 2025

More than 100 people joined us at the Gordon to launch our 2025 school programs – Geelong Future Leaders of Industry (GFLOI), Girls Leading Advanced Manufacturing (GLAM) and WoW Clean Economy.

Students, teachers and parents were treated to fascinating insights into the capability of Geelong’s manufacturing sector and the variety of careers offered through manufacturing and engineering fields.

We were thrilled with the response from schools and students to the programs with 53 students from 14 local schools taking part in this year’s programs.

A huge thanks to GMC members, Jack Fitzgerald and Elise Vella (Think Manufacturing) and Samantha Van Zyl (LoomTex) who shared their incredible insights and exciting new projects, including LoomTex’s work developing advanced materials to house astronauts at the International Space Station and Think Manufacturing’s recycled plastics which are used to create instant ‘snap-on’ outdoor decking, on sale now nationally at Bunnings.

Students and parents were surprised and delighted by the variety of exciting opportunities available through manufacturing.

Thanks to our program supporter, Skilling the Bay.
