Women-in-manufacturing

BIG IDEAS Workshop 1: Tapping into new resources in manufacturing

We’re inviting GMC member leaders and decision makers to participate in our first BIG IDEAS workshop on Wednesday 20 November, facilitated by Dr Heather Round from DRB Insights.

BIG IDEAS is aimed at encouraging more women into manufacturing, highlighting that women continue to be an untapped resource in some male dominated areas of manufacturing.

Whether it’s trade apprenticeships, hiring or retaining women in management positions, workforce diversity yields clear benefits for business, including improved profitability.

What can I expect from the workshop?

  • Hear from a local manufacturing business about how they’ve successfully implemented initiatives to attract and retain women in traditionally male dominated manufacturing roles, and how it’s positively impacted their business
  • learn about the challenges and benefits of developing a more diverse workplace
  • assess your current state
  • identify barriers and opportunities within your business
  • start to develop a preliminary action plan to help you successfully adopt these practices.

A second workshop will be hosted in April 2025 to assist senior leaders and decision makers to map out a path to organisational change to enable better equity and diversity in their organisation.
