The Circular Economy aims to redefine growth by focusing on positive society-wide benefits and moving beyond the current take-make-dispose extractive industrial model. Underpinned by a transition to renewable energy sources, the circular model builds economic, natural, and social capital. It is based on three principles:
- design out waste and pollution;
- keep products and materials in use;
- regenerate natural systems.
The goals of this Circular Economy workshop are to provide participants with a deeper understanding of the approach, how it is already working in our region, and how we can work together to further strengthen it. The workshop will consist of a balanced combination of presentations, discussions and syndicate exercises and be led by two thought leaders in this space: Professor Matt Barnett (Director, Institute for Frontier Materials, Deakin) and Philippa Bakes (President of Regional Innovation for a Circular Economy or RICE).
This session is designed for senior & executive managers & directors in the manufacturing & manufacturing support sectors & is free to GMC/ENG Members
